The Transport layer is responsible for ensuring data integrity within the OSI model. This layer provides reliable data transfer services to the upper layers by implementing error detection and correction mechanisms. It ensures that data packets are delivered accurately and in the correct order, which is critical for maintaining the integrity of the transmitted data.

At the Transport layer, protocols like TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) include features such as sequence numbering, acknowledgments, and checksums to verify the accuracy of the data. If any discrepancies are detected—such as lost or corrupted packets—the Transport layer can take corrective actions, such as retransmitting packets to ensure that the complete and correct data reaches its intended destination.

In contrast, the other layers of the OSI model focus on different aspects of data transmission. The Session layer manages sessions and connections between applications but does not directly handle data integrity. The Network layer is primarily concerned with logical addressing and routing of packets across networks, while the Data link layer is responsible for node-to-node data transfer and has some error detection capabilities but does not ensure end-to-end data integrity like the Transport layer does.
